Meet the gorgeous new mixer that's here to change the way you drink gin: Sekforde Raspberry, Rose and Sage Soda! (Tonic, watch out!)

Sekforde Raspberry, Rose & Sage Soda

In their February 2022 Gin of the Month boxes, Craft Gin Club members discovered Sekforde Raspberry, Rose & Sage Soda, a brand new mixer that’s here to shake things up a bit.

Like all the mixers in the Sekforde Drinks range, this delicate and complex blend of flavours was created for the express purpose of elevating rather than masking the flavours of quality spirits like craft gins and vodkas.

That perfect balance is a testament to the craftsmanship behind this incredible mixer that’s giving your average tonic waters a run for their money.

To find out more, Craft Gin Club has spoken to Talula White, the brains behind the Sekforde Raspberry, Rose and Sage Soda in our February box.

Talula White, founder of Sekforde Drinks

Sekforde’s remarkable story began on a historic lane in London.

It started in my kitchen on Sekforde Street, hence the name. For a bit of trivia, it’s the same street as the bank Charles Dickens used to frequent.
— Talula White, Sekforde Drinks founder

While the great Victorian author may have been dreaming up characters for his latest novel when he walked the street, Talula was channelling her creativity in a different direction.

I wanted lighter, fresher mixer options that would compliment and lengthen spirits rather than overpower them.
— Talula White

Talula soon discovered she wasn’t alone. A whole lot of people wanted exactly the same thing, and so, she set out to make a range of unique mixers that would complement rather than mask her favourite spirits.

Sekforde Drinks range

The result was a range like no other, including the Sekforde Raspberry, Rose & Sage Soda made for gin; as well as Sicilian Orange, Rosemary & Gentian to be paired with whiskey; Lime, Mint & Cocoa for rum and Prickly Pear, Fig and Cardamom for tequila and mezcal. If you want to have a play at home, you can buy the whole Sekforde range in Waitrose, Ocado and Amazon.

Tonic isn’t to every gin lover’s taste, and Raspberry, Rose & Sage Soda was created specifically for people who don’t like tonic. To start with, there’s no quinine, the defining feature of tonic, and hence the classic balance of strong bitter and sweet flavours you get in tonic isn’t in this mixer. Making this mixer was all about blending a spectrum of flavours, from floral and fruity to herbaceous, that will work with the juniper notes in gin.
— Talula White

But what inspired the flavours in Sekforde Raspberry, Rose & Sage Soda? Talula had this to say:

It was inspired by an English country garden. To capture that, we used a fresh raspberry extract, complemented by the delicate floral notes of rose and a silvery finish of sage.
