So, what are the key elements of a Jaffa Cake?

A small orange-flavoured disc of jelly on the cake.

Chocolate then encases the whole top half of the Jaffa Cake, hiding the orange disc underneath.

Jaffa Cake

How do you make a hot chocolate taste like Jaffa Cake?

The chocolate element is covered in this hot chocolate recipe by chocolate, of course. We like to use dark chocolate here, at least 70% cocoa.

We then introduce that iconic orange Jaffa Cake flavour by infusing hot milk and melted chocolate with orange rind. The orange rind perfumes every sip with warm, inviting authentic citrus tones that are simply divine!

We also add to the orange allure of this hot chocolate cocktail by using an orange gin in the recipe, something like Tarquin’s Cornish Sunshine Blood Orange Gin works perfectly in this recipe. Any standard London dry can work just fine too.

The cake element of the Jaffa Cake is then represented in this hot chocolate recipe by a touch of Vanilla Syrup.

When all of these ingredients are combined, you are left with a wonderfully decadent, rich and citrusy hot chocolate that’s perfect for gin fans.

So get them around and whip up this chocoholic’s dream tonight!

Firstly, heat your milk in a small saucepan over medium heat. Next, add the broken-up chocolate and orange rind. Whisk constantly to ensure a smooth texture for 5 minutes or until fully melted.
