Anything that contains gin gets a big YES from us at Craft Gin Club, so we’re always on the hunt for new exciting gin liqueurs that taste delicious and make incredible cocktails.
You may have seen the hugely popular snow globe gin liqueurs, or perhaps you’re not sure what the difference between gin and a gin liqueur is, so allow us to fill you in! We’ve found plenty of gin liqueurs (and even developed some of our own) that are worth tasting and keeping on your gin shelf…
What is a gin liqueur?
Gin liqueurs are made from distilled gin infused with different flavours and sweeteners (like fruit or sugar). So for example, sloe gin is actually a gin liqueur!
What is the difference between gin and liqueur?
Gin liqueur has a higher concentration of added sugar, (and if you want to learn all about gin, then click here). Standard gin will have an ABV of 40% whereas a liqueur is usually around the 20-30% ABV mark. Juniper won’t be the leading flavour in a liqueur, which means it does not fit the legal definition of gin.
Does gin liqueur taste like gin?
Due to the sugar content, liqueurs tend to have a much sweeter taste and more of a syrupy texture than gin.
Do you mix anything with gin liqueur?
Many gin liqueurs taste delicious neat over ice and we always recommend doing this so you can discover the nose, palate, and finish. However, they are a terrific starting place for cocktails - so it’s the best of both worlds!
