It all began in a small village in North Wales, where the Welsh Witch was born.

Beltane, (honoured on the 1st of May) celebrates summer, flowers, love, fertility, rebirth, the cauldron and more.

Not only that, it’s the same birthday as the founder of the Wild Moon Distillery, Jade Garston!

This special gin pays homage to the brand’s 30th birthday and is inspired by the elements of Beltane.

And spirituality has always played a big part in Jade’s life:

I’ve always been a deeply spiritual person. From making potions in the bath using garden foliage, to collecting seashells and intriguing stones from the beach. As I grew older, I started collecting healing crystals, using tarot & angel cards and it became a part of life and my love for witchcraft grew stronger.

This connection with spirituality alongside her love for the local landscapes helps explain the Welsh Witch Gin inception:

“I am incredibly proud of my roots in North Wales. It’s beautiful all year round, whatever the weather. The history, the stories, the folklore (Mabinogion) and not forgetting the Celtic Welsh language,” says Jade.

Passionate about the wild, Jade’s a big believer in the power of nature, too: “The name Wild Moon was inspired by my wild heart. I firmly believe in the healing powers of nature and how it replenishes the mind, body, and soul.”

And Fleetwood Mac is partly to thank for the gin’s enchanting name, too:

“I was in the car with my mother when Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac introduced the live version of the song Rhiannon and said “this is a song about a Welsh witch”. The stars aligned, and the Welsh Witch name was born!”

And it’s not just the name that’s other-worldly - it’s the g-incredible distilling process: the gin uses Welsh water and works with the lunar cycle to make it extra magical…

Some of our Welsh water is left under a full moon in a glass jar to charge overnight. It’s then distilled and left for a full moon cycle, sitting through each phase of the moon absorbing the profound energies. The full moon and new moon provide the most powerful energy!

Welsh Witch Gin ingredients

After trying this gin, we’re sure its flavours will put a spell on you - the London Dry Gin base has incredible citrus notes, and is distilled with an abundance of raspberries, to represent summer. The cinnamon symbolises the cauldron in the rituals and the reiki rose water, the flowers and love celebrated for Beltane.

It’s a stunning symphony of flavours and ideal for celebrating throughout the sunny season - this magical potion sets the scene for hazy summer evenings.

One thing’s for sure, they’ll be hubble and bubble in every double (measure)! All that’s left is to let it bewitch your taste buds…
