With its mouth-watering raspberry and almond flavours, we love a Bakewell tart here at Craft Gin Club HQ. That’s why we are so excited that Pennington’s Spirits & Liqueurs, the gin-credible team behind our January 2021 Gin of the Month, have shared this beautiful Bakewell Sour gin cocktail recipe with us.
The key is Pennington’s Bakewell Gin Liqueur, of course, which we sent to our members in their January 2021 Gin of the Month box. Taking years to perfect, it’s a gin-credible expression of that most delicious of desserts, the Bakewell tart, with its perfectly-balanced mix of almond and raspberry flavours.
Bakewell Sour
This spectacular Sour mixes the rich, juniper-forward profile of gin with the scrumptious almond and raspberry flavours of Pennington’s Bakewell Gin Liqueur and a delectably sour kick of lemon juice. Bitters then add complex spice notes and the egg whites crown the tipple with a wonderfully smooth head of foam.
Ingredients
50ml Pennington’s Bakewell Gin Liqueur
30ml Pennington’s Lakeland Moon Snowfell Gin
15ml Simple Syrup
3 dashes, Angostura Aromatic Bitters
Juice of half a lemon
1 egg white
Raspberries, to garnish
Method
Add all of the ingredients, including the egg white, into a cocktail shaker and dry-shake for 20 seconds. Add ice and shake again until the liquid is chilled. Fine strain into a rocks or coupe glass, garnish and serve.
If this fabulous cocktail has whet your appetite for more cocktails and liqueurs then you need to try Pennington’s Gingerbread Liqueur in their Pen-Gin-Tons Mule and their Kendal Mint Cake Liqueur in a Kendal Mint Mojito. Both are utterly delicious!
