This bright gin, strawberry and Thai basil cocktail recipe is inspired by the incredible, uniquely Vietnamese palate of Sông Cái Việt Nam Dry Gin, Craft Gin Club’s January 2022 Gin of the Month. With its Southeast Asian palate, it’s the perfect way to beat the winter blues!
The fabulous aromas of Thai basil work so tremendously well with the citrus, spice and warm woody notes of Sông Cái Việt Nam Dry Gin in this recipe. The fresh strawberries then add a complimentary juiciness that is both sweet and berry-licious.
The result is a cocktail that is uniquely Southeast Asian in character and so refreshing. It’s ideal for when you want a burst of sunny refreshment in the middle of winter!
Strawberry & Thai Basil Smash
50ml Sông Cái Việt Nam Dry Gin
4 fresh strawberries
5 to 6 Thai basil leaves
15ml lemon juice
10ml Simple Syrup
Soda water, to top
Sprig of Thai basil, to garnish
Muddle the strawberries in the bottom of a shaker. Add lots of ice along with the gin, lemon juice, simple syrup and basil leaves. Shake well. Pour over ice and top with the soda water. Garnish, serve and enjoy!
