Not only is this rhubarb syrup pretty and pink, but it strikes the perfect balance of sweet and tart flavours. If you’ve ever tried your hand at making your very own rhubarb and gin, then this syrup is for you! (Check out this rhubarb and ginger gin how-to).
It works perfectly in a Rhubarb Sour (and means you don’t have to spend time making your own syrup!), and a zingy Rhubarb Paloma. Spy some of our favourite recipes below…
The best gin and rhubarb cocktail recipes:
Rhubarb Sour
This is a gorgeous twist on a Rhubarb Sour, that we have in our CGC cocktail book. This refreshing sip has rosé sparkling wine to top. We love the creamy, bubbly foamy finish!
50ml gin
20ml lemon juice
20ml rhubarb syrup
1 egg white
Top with Rosé Sparkling Wine (Pinot Grigio Pink Fizz)
Fresh rhubarb, to garnish
Add all the ingredients apart from the garnish to a shaker without ice and shake together for ten seconds. Add ice to the shaker and shake hard for 15 more seconds. Strain into a rocks glass filled with fresh ice and top with sparkling rosé wine. Garnish with slices of rhubarb.
Rhubarb & Orange Juice
With tangy rhubarb and zesty orange, this cocktail is very easy to drink! It’s fabulously fruity and the rose flower water gives an extra floral note that pairs perfectly with the orange.
50ml gin
10ml lemon juice
25ml rhubarb syrup
1 drop rose flower water (optional)
Top with orange juice
Orange and rhubarb stalk, to garnish
Add the first four ingredients to a shaker with ice and shake well. Strain into a highball or rocks glass over crushed ice and top with orange juice. Garnish with a slice of orange juice and a rhubarb stalk.
Rhubarb Paloma
This is a delicious cocktail inspired by the classic Paloma tequila cocktail, using gin (of course) and our fruity rhubarb syrup. It’s got a lovely colour, is refreshingly tart, with a salty mouthfeel to boot - perfect for the summer!
50ml gin
50ml grapefruit juice
15ml rhubarb syrup
10ml lime juice
Top with soda water
Salt, to rim
Grapefruit slice or rhubarb stalk
Add all the ingredients in a highball glass previously rimmed with salt and filled with ice. Give a quick stir to combine and garnish with grapefruit or rhubarb slices.
