You may be surprised to find crème de banane on the ingredients list for this cocktail but banana is a key flavour component of the classic Pear Drop sweets that inspired this recipe. Allow us to assure you that having those subtle banana flavours suffused through this pear-forward gin cocktail recipe is a stroke of genius from Craft Gin Club’s Master Mixologist, Dan Tripp. Rather than overpowering the other flavours here, the crème de banane actually works to round out the cocktail wonderfully.
The star of the show has to be the gin though, and for this recipe, we recommend using York Gin Jorvik Spring, Craft Gin Club’s March 2023 Gin of the Month. Floral, citrusy and with touches of ginger and liquorice, this remarkable craft gin from York Gin distillery is the perfect partner to the fruity pear juice and subtle banana of the crème de banane.

Pear Drop Martini
40ml York Gin Jorvik Spring
20ml crème de banane
10ml lime juice
150ml pear juice
Pear or banana slice, to garnish
Freshly grated nutmeg, to garnish (optional)
Add the gin, crème de banane, lime juice and pear juice to a shaker with ice. Shake well and strain into a martini or coupe glass. Garnish, serve and enjoy!
