What is homemade clementine gin liqueur?
Homemade clementine gin liqueur is made by infusing clementine with London dry gin and sugar.
For our recipe, we have also added festive spice tones to the gin by infusing star anise and ginger with the clementine too.
This infusion process, along with the sugar, allows the flavours of the fruit and spices to merge with the flavours of the base London dry gin.
What does homemade clementine gin taste like?
Homemade clementine gin is sweet and brimming with warm, citrusy clementine flavours that sit atop a rich base of those quintessential juniper tones.
But don’t take our word for it. Have a go at making it yourself…
Homemade Clementine Gin Liqueur
70cl London dry gin
4-5 clementines
200g caster sugar
2 star anise (optional)
1 small cube of ginger (optional)
Leave the skins on the clementines but slice them into segments. Add to a clean, dry jar or bottle along with the other ingredients. Seal, give the contents a little shake and leave in a cool, dark place to infuse for a week or two.
Try to give the jar a little shake every few days to help the flavour infuse. You can try the contents at any point to see when you think it’s ready. The longer you leave it, the deeper the flavours will be.
Once ready, strain your gin liqueur into a pretty bottle, and wrap it with ribbon and labels. The liqueur should be kept in a cool, dark place. It will easily last for six months, so you can make it now and give it as a gift at Christmas without worrying about it going off.
How to drink clementine gin liqueur?
Clementine gin liqueur is a versatile tipple that can be served in a number of different ways.
Firstly, clementine gin liqueur is great simply served over ice, with no mixer needed. Its sweet and festive palate makes it ideal for sipping slowly by the fire.
We then recommend trying clementine gin liqueur with London dry gin and tonic water.
To make this easy clementine gin and tonic serve, simply add 15ml of the clementine gin to 25ml of London dry gin in a Copa glass with lots of ice. Top up with a premium tonic water of your choice and enjoy.

25ml Homemade clementine gin liqueur
100ml Prosecco
Sprinkle of edible gold stars (such as these from Lakeland)
Chill a wine glass or champagne flute. Add your gin liqueur. Top up with prosecco (or champagne/sparkling wine), then stir in a little sprinkle of edible gold stars and serve!
