Discover five of our favourite amaretto and gin cocktails!

Trust us when we say amaretto and gin make for one delicious and wonderfully versatile pairing.

The sweet, fragrant almond flavours of amaretto (an almond-flavoured liqueur thought to have originated from Saronno, just outside Milan) always plays so nicely with the rich juniper berry and crisp citrus notes that we adore in a London Dry gin.

Here are five of our favourite gin and amaretto cocktail recipes for you to try. Each of these tasty cocktails is as delicious as the next, whether you like a ginny hot chocolate, or something more classic.

An Irish Coffee is a perfect cocktail for the winter months, warm, deep and rich it never fails to bring a smile to our face. Our version is particularly delicious because it replaces the whisky that’s usually found in an Irish Coffee with gin and amaretto. Both the sumptuous almond notes and the complex juniper tones of the gin work so well with the fruity and aromatic flavours of a good coffee.

The Jockey Club is a classic gin cocktail that was first invented in the 1930s and enjoyed at The Savoy hotel by celebrity and wealthy patron alike. Traditionally made with an almond liqueur called crème de noyaux, which is slightly more bitter than our choice of amaretto, it is always a treat for the taste buds. With a bright hit of lemon juice or lime juice and a couple of dashes of Bitters, there’s nothing else quite like it.

With a mix of chocolate, salted toffee, amaretto and gin, it is very easy to fall in love with this marvellous martini. It’s sweet and smooth and the hint of salt brings out all of the delectable flavours wonderfully. This cocktail is so quaffable, you could easily enjoy more than one in a sitting - and we wouldn’t blame you if you did. If you have a sweet tooth then this gin and amaretto cocktail is the one for you.

As we are very partial to a Bakewell tart or two here at the club, this cocktail is right up our street. We were in love from the first sip. Cherry and almond and gin are a tremendous trio, especially when accompanied by the rich, fruity ruby port undertones of Pedrino’s Ruby & Tonic Spritz. This is a surprisingly bright and refreshing gin cocktail, especially when served with crushed ice, that’s perfect for enjoying in the sun - yes, gin and amaretto are a duo that can work well together at any time of the year.

This cocktail is a little naughty and very nice. As hot chocolates go, this has to be top of our list. It’s delightfully decadent and silky, smooth and, most importantly, it plays host to gin and amaretto in the most wonderful way. This beautifully boozy hot chocolate is heart-warming and cosy and absolutely ideal for cosy nights in.
