How is Lantic Morva Gin made?

Lantic Morva Gin is made in Cornwall by Alex Palmer-Samborne, distiller and founder of Skylark Distillery, using botanicals foraged along the Cornish coast. Each botanical is chosen for its seasonality, giving you a true sense of August in Cornwall.

Elderflower, meadowsweet and wild rose petals are included to add a beautiful bouquet of floral notes that will remind drinkers of coastal wildflowers. To add a subtle touch of summer sweetness, hand-foraged sweet clover, birch sap and raspberry are used too.

A few botanicals from beyond Cornwall, like pink grapefruit and magnolia flower, then make the botanical blend truly extraordinary.

The full list of Lantic Morva Gin botanicals can be found here: juniper, coriander, angelica, orris, cubeb pepper, green cardamom, cinnamon, magnolia flower, lime peel, pink grapefruit, orange, lemon, raspberry, sweet clover, elderflower, meadowsweet, wild rose petal and birch sap.

Those botanicals are then distilled in a traditional copper still from Portugal, named after Alex’s mother, Virginia.

The gin is named “Lantic Morva” because Lantic Bay is a hidden cove on the Cornish coast that is much-loved by Alex - the Lantic Gin range (find out more below) is the flagship range of Skylark Distillery.

“Morva” is a Cornish word that means “seaside” or “a place by the sea”, a word that perfectly encapsulates the places that this craft gin can take you with every sip, evoking memories of summer holidays by the sea.
