Be pretty in pink with this delicious rhubarb and elderflower gin cocktail

If you’ve suddenly got a craving for rhubarb, you aren’t alone – this nostalgic flavour has come back in a big way! We’re bringing the best of this summery trend to our glasses with the Fentimans Pink Rhubarb Tonic in the July Gin of the Month box.

If last summer was the season of elderflower, this July has ushered an old favourite back into the limelight: rhubarb!

With its nod to nostalgia – pink sweets and tart puddings are a staple of British childhood – and leafy allure on the farmer’s market stall, rhubarb is the traditional ingredient that suddenly feels like the most modern vegetable on the shelf. And, of course, it tastes great!

As Andrew Jackson of Fentimans says: “It has a unique, delicious and unforgettable tart flavour that gives it that quintessentially British taste that we love!”

Luckily for gin fans, this trendy veg also happens to be a smashing companion for our favourite spirit. With its irresistible sweet-and-sour flavour, it elevates and balances the piny, lemony zing of juniper.

“Its intense sourness is perfect for balancing sweeter gins,” says Andrew, “often providing an aromatic sensory experience of candied sweets, making it perfect for a refreshing summer G&T.”

When you’re picking a tonic to take on your summer adventures, the Pink Rhubarb Tonic Water in your July Gin of the Month box will fit the bill. Built on the unique Fentimans’ botanically brewed base of juniper, kaffir lime leaves and lemongrass, an infusion of perfectly tart rhubarb and beautiful bubbles bring this tonic to entirely new heights.

As Andrew says: “With gin or as a standalone botanical drink, our Pink Rhubarb Tonic Water provides a balanced sweet-and-sour infusion in every sip. Whether it’s a floral craft gin, a juniper-forward gin or a modern cocktail using fresh herbs and spices, rhubarb is a perfect bridging flavour to bring balance to your drink.”

Take this tonic through its paces to see just how versatile it can be – and find out why the trend for rhubarb is one that gin lovers can really get behind!
