Merchant's Heart has just launched a range of spirit enhancers in a nifty 150ml can, and we were lucky enough to launch them in our December Gin of the Month box! We sat down to talk about the different flavours and how well they mix with gin! Which one would you go for?
Merchant’s Heart Spirit Enhancers Review by Craft Gin Club
The team at Merchant’s Heart has perfected festive drinking with the four Spirit Enhancers in this month’s box, and they have even packaged them perfectly for a party! At 150ml, the cans in your Gin of the Month box provide a perfect portion of mixer for a double measure of gin – so you can serve a crowd quickly, with no worry of over diluted gin or leftover tonic water!
But the skill of the Merchant’s Heart team really comes into play as you take your first sips and discover the delicious balance at the centre of their Spirit Enhancers. Merchant’s Heart’s Jason Sennitt explains: “As gin fans ourselves, we were frustrated by the fact that many of the subtle botanical flavours in gin get lost once the tonic is added. Our Spirit Enhancers were specifically designed with no strong middle notes and a soft blend of top and base notes. This ‘hollow centre’ allows more of the subtle changes of flavour to come through from the gin.” But the Merchant’s Heart team didn’t just pay attention to flavour.
Their care for carbonation was meticulous, ensuring every sip is as wonderful as the first. As Jason says: “Just as the ABV of a gin is linked to how aromatic it is, the carbonation of your G&T is crucial for good flavour too.”
