Celebrate St David's Day with these two top Welsh tipples!

On St David’s Day, to celebrate the patron saint of Wales, we love nothing more than to stick on some Tom Jones and pour ourselves a G&T or two - with a Welsh cake or a slice of bara brith to snack on as you sip, there’s nothing better!

But which gins to choose? That can be a rather difficult question because Wales is now home to so many fabulous craft gins. From Llandudno to Barry, the dramatic landscape of Wales is littered with fantastic craft distilleries. Having tasted gins from more than a few of them here at Craft Gin Club HQ, we are here to help.

Below we have two of our favourite Welsh craft gins that are perfect for enjoying this St David’s Day.

This beautiful tipple from The Gower Gin Company was our February 2020 Gin of the Month. Distilled on Wale’s gorgeous Gower peninsula, its a rich and delectably complex craft gin that’s made with pomegranate and rose. Those fruity and floral flavours are a beautiful accompaniment to the juniper we know and love.

Origin:
Gower, Wales

Botanicals:
Juniper, pomegranate seeds, red rose petals, foraged wild fennel, fresh lemon zest, orris root, coriander fresh pink grapefruit and coriander.

Tasting Notes:
The mouthwatering marriage of fragrant rose petals and fruity, tart pomegranate is elevated by a delightful hit of citrus. Those delectable flavours all continue onto the long and elegant finish.

Perfect G&T:
We recommend serving this brilliant gin with Artisan Drinks Co. Pink Citrus Tonic and a garnish of lemon slices and dried rosebuds.

Every sip of this gorgeous, organic gin is filled with botanical notes that are complex and utterly delicious. Created by Dà Mhìle Distillery, an independent, award-winning, farmhouse distillery in west Wales, it’s a truly extraordinary gin that’s made with 18 different botanicals,

Origin:
Ceredigion, Wales
Botanicals:
Ranging from an initial taste of spearmint and peppermint, moving into liquorice and some lovely spices, finishing on floral notes of elderflower and chamomile
Tasting Notes:
Fresh green herbs and juniper come through on the nose. A hint of liquorice and warm spice notes then come through on the palate. The finish is then brimming with delightful floral tones.
Perfect G&T:
We love to serve this gin with a premium Mediterranean tonic water and garnish of fresh seasonal herbs of your choice.
