This rose and campari gin cocktail will bring a blush to your cheeks this Valentine's Day!

This rose and campari gin cocktail will bring a blush to your cheeks this Valentine's Day!

A subtle hint of rose can lift your average cocktail to a new level, adding lovely, delicate floral notes. Rose pairs particularly well with the botanicals found in many gins, especially those which already include rose petals among their key ingredients (including our February 2020 Gin of the Month, GŴYR Rhamanta Gin).

So long as you go in with a light touch, a tiny drop or two of rose water will enhance your drink no end! (Do avoid a heavy hand… you don’t want your drink to taste like a bowl of pot pourri!)

Here, we’ve created a classic cocktail base and, as well as adding a little floral note from rose water, created a beautiful blush colour from the addition of Campari. This deliciously bitter liqueur, of course, also helps balance the sweetness of the simple syrup and the tart citrus twang of lemon juice.

There’s also the option to create an egg white foam topping, which transforms the cocktail from something clean and refreshing into a smoother, creamier drink.

Either way, it’s a perfectly balanced tipple and whether you’re looking for a romantic cocktail to share with your loved one on Valentine’s Day or a gorgeous pink drink to share with your best friends the next time they come over, this delightful blushing cocktail will add a little taste of summer gardens in full bloom to your evening, whatever the season!
