Quiz: Is your mum a true gin lover? Take this test and find out!

If you can relate to at least 6 of these then your mum is a true gin lover and will most probably be your best gin pal for life (she probably already is)!

1) There was always a locked cabinet in the house when you were growing up that you were never allowed inside. Ever wondered what could have been in there? A stash of sweeties perhaps, embarrassing old photos of your mum in her teens doing things that she has always forbidden you to do? Nope! That cabinet was for mum’s gin collection!

2) You were never allowed to use ‘mummy’s special glass’ while growing up (she doesn’t even trust you with it now!). But now that you have your own special collection of Coupe glasses you know why she was so precious about those beauties!

3) There was never enough room in the fridge for your fizzy pop, only mum’s tonic water. ‘You shouldn’t be having that stuff anyway, it will rot your teeth!’

4) You never went without ice in your house. Not once did you ever have to suffer a warm drink in the summer heat. You may even have had an ice machine in the fridge door! You never understood why your mum was so adamant that she should have that little piece of kitchen tech, she wasn’t bothered about any other “mod cons”. We know why! G&T’s must be cold!

5) In your teens, when you finally worked out how to unlock the doors to mum’s secret cabinet, the alcohol that you sneaked to your friend’s house party in an old water bottle was always a step above the rest in quality and taste! Mum won’t know if her gin is replaced with water, right? We wouldn’t want to be you when she finds out!

6) When you turned 18 your mum was the first one to pour you a G&T and then led the march to her favourite gin bar - she had been dying to take you there for so long!

7) That shelf that was once full of trophies for participating in school sports days, golden certificates for passing spelling tests and that one ‘Most Improved’ medal for that team you haven’t played for in years has been cleared out and refilled with gin. “The memories of your achievements are lovely, honestly they are, but these bottles of gin from Craft Gin Club are just nicer to look at, honey. Let’s keep your medals safe in a box, in the attic maybe, where no one can steal them. Perhaps we can get them out next time you come to visit and…look at them…maybe. *cough* I have let this ugly plastic tat ruin my decor for far too long *cough*”

8) As soon as you moved out of the house your bedroom was transformed into a personal gin bar for your parents. And they were shockingly speedy at renovating, how long had their plans been in motion? So that is why she was walking around your room with a tape measure as you were packing, saying ‘Are you ready, love?’ far too frequently for your liking!

9) It has always been very easy to buy a gift for your mum. Gin, gin and more gin, even a year of gin if she is very lucky!

10) Now that you’re old enough, your mum has become your best gin pal! (You are ready to learn everything she knows!)
