You've tried a French 75... now meet the Orange 75!

We all know and love the French 75 - now it’s time for a citrus twist! If you like a mimosa, and the aforementioned classic sparkling gin cocktail, you’re going to love this orange-infused version!

We adore this cocktail: it’s easy, it’s incredibly tasty, we’ve always got the ingredients in our fridge, and it works just as well for a sofa night in front of Strictly with pals as it does for a fancy cocktail party - it’s basically our new go-to gin cocktail for Saturday night!

Orange 75

30ml gin
15ml freshly squeezed orange juice
15ml orange simple syrup*
Champagne or orange wine

Add the gin, juice and orange simple syrup to a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake for 5-10 seconds. Strain into a champagne flute and top with ice-cold Champagne or sparkling wine. Garnish with a twist of orange peel.

*To make orange simple syrup: in a small pan, gently heat 100g granulated sugar and 100ml orange juice for about five minutes, stirring throughout, until the sugar dissolves and the liquid reduces to a treacly texture, then leave to cool. Can be stored, sealed, in the fridge for 4-6 months.

This recipe also makes for a fantastic, crowd-pleasing punch - simply scale up the quantity of each of the ingredients until you have enough to serve your guests!
