There is some debate about the origins of the White Lady cocktail, with some claiming it was invented in New York or London. However, the most common consensus is that it was the famous Harry’s New York Bar in (confusingly) Paris that was the true birthplace of the delicious classic gin cocktail we have come to know and love.
A simple combination of gin, orange liqueur (traditionally triple sec, but Cointreau or other versions are equally delicious) this is an easy-to-make, elegant and refreshing cocktail - a tipple that truly allows your gin of choice to shine.
White Lady
50ml gin
25ml orange liqueur
15ml lemon juice
Egg white (optional)
Combine your ingredients in a cocktail shaker without ice and dry shake for 20 seconds, until the egg white is emulsified. Add ice and shake again, straining into a chilled cocktail coupe and serving straightaway.
Note: You don’t have to use egg white, if you prefer not to - however, this is what creates the beautiful light foam on the top of your drink, so we do encourage you to try it!
