Retired GP Donald Pennie, who recently celebrated his 100th birthday with a trip to the local pub, has claimed that the secret to his longevity is a daily tipple of gin, according to The Courier.
Apparently, the former doctor from Forfar in Scotland has enjoyed a gin and tonic every day for the past 74 years, and told the paper that “my recipe for reaching 100 is a gin every day since I was 26 years old”!
The centenarian celebrated his landmark birthday with a trip to the local bar, where he enjoyed - what else? - two gin and tonics to acknowledge the special occasion.
His daughter-in-law Maureen told The Courier that, on visiting the pub, Donald’s “grin spoke volumes. He was so genuinely pleased.”
“It was a memorable day which he thoroughly enjoyed.”
From all of us here at Craft Gin Club, Donald, many congratulations and a hearty ‘bottoms up’!
