Let’s take a look at what some of their gorgeous hotels have to offer!
Shrigley Hall Hotel, Golf & Spa, Peak District National Park
Where is it? This gorgeous hotel is perfectly situated for a dream getaway. Surrounded by the rolling green hills of the Peak District, it offers an idyllic place to escape for a couple of days.
What makes it so special? As if its location wasn’t enough already, this hotel is the perfect one-stop wonder. If you are looking for relaxation, the spa is waiting with open arms. If you’re looking for some gentle activity, their golf course is championship-standard and, for a bit more adventure, there are plenty of hikes to be had in the surrounding hills. For the foodies, the Oakridge Restaurant offers sublime cuisine and incredible views. For a more casual dining experience, there’s The Courtyard Bar where you can enjoy fabulous food and drink alfresco or cosied up by the fire.
What is there for gin fans? The Courtyard Bar has a fine selection of gins. We also recommend enjoying afternoon tea at the Oakridge Restaurant with a scrumptious G&T or two. Gin and scones in a drop-dead gorgeous setting? Yes, please!
Van Dyk Hotel, Chesterfield
Where is it? Sat just north-east of Chesterfield, this country house is only a 30-minute drive away from the magnificent Peak District. It’s the perfect place from which to explore Derbyshire’s stunning countryside!
What makes it so special? With its new £6,000,000 renovation, which includes a botanical-themed interior designed by the award-winning firm SpaceInvader, this is simply one of the loveliest places to find yourself enjoying a G&T. Whether your plans are adventurous trips into the verdant countryside or relaxing in fine surroundings while enjoying something to eat at their amazing Orangery Restaurant, this is the place to be!
What is there for gin fans? Gin fans will certainly appreciate the botanical themes that run through the whole design of the hotel and you can’t go wrong with a G&T at the Orangery’s bar. But the hotel is also a great place to bound off from to visit local gin bars and distilleries. What’s more, the hotel will soon be launching its own range of gins in collaboration with Derbyshire Distillery.
Ruthin Castle Hotel & Spa, North Wales
Where is it? This first-class hotel can be found in Ruthin, North Wales. It’s a fairy-tale castle in the land of dragons!
What makes it so special? It’s the building itself that makes this hotel so special. The castle dates all the way back to the 13th Century and has been known as “Castell Coch yn yr Gwernfor”, which means “the red castle in the great marsh”. Of course, there is more to do than look at the historic architecture. Ruthin is just a 30-minute drive from Snowdonia National Park if you have a thirst for the outdoors and if you don’t, then their woodland spa is worth the trip alone.
What is there for gin fans? As you will be in Wales, you will definitely want to make the trip over to the Dà Mhìle Distillery in Ceredigion, their organic gin is one of a kind! And why not go the extra mile and head south to visit our friends at The Gower Gin Company, their Rhamanta edition was our February 2020 Gin of the Month. If you just want to stay close by, then the hotel’s cosy bar has some fabulous gins to choose from too.
